When fans think of Fairy Tail, they think of the power of friendship or Nakama and the sheer amount of shipping that went on in the series. Everyone fans could think of was either put in a canon or fanon ship, even people like Laxus. Few were as well-received as Gray and Juvia or Gruvia for short.

It's hard not to like them when Gray is one of the better-developed characters in the whole series, and Juvia has an earnest love that fans can't help but enjoy. Along with Natsu and Lucy, they are one of the longer-running ships in the series, meaning they have more than a few things the biggest fans may not even know.

10 Their Edolas Counterparts Are Married

Edolas Fairy Tail

It's more than a little surprising when fans factor in how cold Juvia was towards Gray when the guild got transported to Edolas. Juvia couldn't stomach teaming with Gray and could barely even look at him, claiming that she got warm just looking at all the layers he had on.

Their personalities didn't seem to match either as Juvia was far more dominant of the pair, yet, by the time of the 1000 year quest, the two had married and had a kid named Greige.

9 Mashima Has Made Art Of Their Kid

In 2007, during comic con, Mashima made fan art of Juvia and Gray's kid for a fan. That was just step one, as he later posted art of the kid onto his twitter, this time alongside Lucy and Natsu's kid.

Fans can see so much of Gray in the kid, with a little bit of Juvia sprinkled in. Natsu and Lucy's child, however, just looks like a mash-up of their two characters, throwing their two traits into a blender and seeing what shot out. It does make fans wonder what a spin-off series like Boruto would look like.

8 They Are Canon

Mashima is rather notorious for leaving ships open-ended and letting the fans decide who is with who, rarely ever confirming the plethora of ships that were present in the series.

Thankfully, by the end of the series, the confirmation came for the pair, Gray finally admitting his true feelings to Juvia, saying that she was his. Given how much Juvia had been by his side, it was about time that he manned up and admitted her liked her too.

7 I Can No Longer See Love

On the cover of chapter 532, the pair are seen in one of the panels that depicted many of the canon and semi-canon relationships in the series, showing how much Mashima himself supported the relationship.

He's not the only one either, Juvia's voice actress, Mai Nakahara, showed more than a little excitement over it as well. It's always been one of the more popular ships, right up there with NaLu, Gale, and Jerza.

6 Gruvia Day

Every Septemeber 10th is Gruvia day, a celebration for all things Gruvia. It started as only a fan day, many just posting their fan art or stories about the pair.

It evolved beyond that lately, as even Mashima has gotten into the act, celebrating right along with the fans via his twitter page. No matter what fans may think of his writing, it's always great when an author can connect with his fans the way Mashima does with his.

5 Predicted By Eisenwald

In the anime, there was a passing comment by one of the Eisenwald members that Gray's life would soon have women and water in it, a hint towards Juvia since she's a water mage.

It was a small little easter egg that the anime has the luxury of adding in that can spice up what at times were mundane exchanges between minor villains in Fairy Tail. It also showed that even the showrunners were in favor of the ship, already showing it a bit of love.

4 Gray Memorabilia

It's hard to ignore that Juvia is a little off her rocker with how much she loves Gray. She's willingly tried to commit suicide for him and been more than a bit stalkerish towards the ice mage throughout the series.

Nothing is as bad as the borderline shrine Juvia has towards him, possessing more Gray memorabilia than should exist in Fiore. Even if they make a cute couple and her love for him is genuine, fans can't ignore how creepy she is at times.

3 Similarities With NaLu

Their two relationships are compared and contrasted with one another a ton during the Alvarez arc, the entire final season showing just how much the Natsu and Gray cared for both Lucy and Juvia.

That's on no more display than that their apparent deaths causing both of them to fly off the handle, resulting in Natsu turning into END and Gray rushing off to confront him in a battle that could have ended up with them both losing their lives.

2 Compatible In More Ways Than One

Even before Gray admitted his feelings for her, they were always compatible in battle. As with Lucy and Natsu, they often fought side by side in combat, always looking out for one another.

Unlike the other pair, their magic blended as seamlessly as their teamwork, letting them pull off feats very few were capable of. One such technique was the Unison Raid, a complete fusion of their two magics into one concentrated blast.

1 Lyon Opening Gray's Eyes

Lyon Vastia with ice

It was far from intentional as Lyon had his own feelings for Juvia, wanting to take her as his own, but he helped open Gray's eyes to how he felt about her.

His attempts to woo her caused Gray to get defensive, to see that he cared about Juvia as more than just a friend, that he wanted more out of their relationship. Now he didn't fully act on them until later in the series, however, it's doubtful Gray would have lived with Juvia before the Avatar arc had it not been for Lyon's moves.
